⌗SurvivalGuides: Revenge of the Lockdown - How to keep a routine and Keep your Mind and Body Healthy

Image
We're going back into Lockdown, it can be a scary time trying to adjust to the new rule changes. We've had sudden routine changes following the Tiered system and now the resurgence of a Month Long Lockdown can be distressing and overwhelming.  Have no fear, I have put together some helpful and useful tips and tricks to get through the second Lockdown.  On the 31st October 2020, the Prime Minister made an announcement that the whole of the UK was going back into a month long lockdown from starting at 12.01am on Thursday 5th November (tomorrow) until the 2nd December 2020.  Wales have already been in a month long lockdown which is due to end on the 9th November 2020 (although it seems like this one has now been extended), Scotland and Northern Ireland have also set out plans respectively for their own Lockdown period.  How to Adapt your Routine and Keep yourself Healthy:  Try and Stick to your Normal Routine: Trying to keep to a routine when you are working...

#Survival Guide:Contraception, Contraception, Contraception

Image
It can be an absolute nightmare to find the right contraception for you. It's not just about the fact that you might be sexually active but the reasons for going on any form of contraception are varied and even understanding what method you want can be utterly confusing and you just want to give up and eat chocolate and ice cream under a duvet instead.  Like millions of women around the world, periods can be the worst experience in their lives and every month they rear their ugly head and turn us into complete and utter horrible humans for at least 7 days (sorry!) but fear not as there is a way to manage, make them lighter and even stop them all together.. thank you contraception!!!  Choosing the right one however takes a lot of research and a lot of time thinking can I handle a needle in my arm or something going into my lady area?  Yes there are many choices all available with different hormones floating around your system plus side effects that'll make y...

Sorry for the lack of posts over the last month!!!!

Just a quick little post...  I know I have been lacking in the post department as late, and that is bad of me and this is a way of an apology and even A BIG THANK YOU for all the views and hits I keep getting as I check my stats every week!  I have been going through a pretty rubbish time of late and coping with really bad writers block as a result of said rubbish time!  I don't really want to go into any details but a member of close family has just died over two weeks ago with a short and very stressful stay in Hospital but my family member died peacefully in his sleep. What happened after family member died was just well ... lets just say I stayed away from my blog because I thought I was just going to have a meltdown on here and I've always said that keep your personal life off the internet as many people are not sympathetic and there are trolls hiding and lurking everywhere really!!!  I am writing a blog post and it's difficult!!! I'm not in...

Preparing For Hospital Visits - Surgery and Appointments

Image
Knowing that you may have to go to Hospital for any reason can scare the hell out of normal people, but when you're Aspergers it can send you spiralling into a Meltdown.  Hospitals are not the enemy! The Hospital might be bigger, with more sensory information to process, sick people and well it's just not a nice environment to be in general but it is a place that we have to go from time to time against our will.  For whatever reason you have landed yourself into hospital, through a referral from the GP or if you're unfortunate enough to be in A&E it can seem like preparing for the worst news you're ever going to hear in your life. But don't threat, as I have some helpful advice to avoid those anxiety attacks, Medical Jargon confusion and making sure you feel comfortable in a strange smelling environment. I have been unfortunate enough to be in and out of Hospitals since I was 15 years old for many a different reason to do with different aspects of my He...

Anger Management - How to deal with Aspie Meltdowns Safely

Image
We've all had those moments in our lives where we've turned into a Monster or the guy above for no apparent reason. Usually we can blame it on little things like Pre- Period Hormones (PMS) or normally Frustration or Anxiety that manifests itself into a downward spiral where it seems normal to lose control.  When this happens, however it can lead to some serious outcomes. The Rage that you feel doesn't just effect you as a person, whoever is in the line of fire can be faced with a someone who is losing control on themselves. If you are someone like me who goes into a severe Meltdown, you'll notice that you black out and that you'll also try to injure yourself (self harming) or harm someone else.  This is when you need to think, is this an anger issue or something much deeper that maybe connected to a mental health problem such as Depression.  It's ok to admit that you have depression and other issues and it is common for people with Aspergers to live...

Being Your Own Organiser

Image
Getting used to Organising your everyday Life can be difficult! Especially as in School they try and teach you it but you don't really put anything into practice until at least you're at University or in Employment!  But knowing that no longer can you be a child and have to step up into Adulthood (which by the way SUCKS) with Appointments, Classes, Deadlines and even just everyday things all need to be Organised to the point that your Computer Desktop is neatly Organised with all your files labelled under different activities and work (Thats me by the way).  We've all seen characters that seem Neurotic and a little bit crazy and lets face it the Queen of this Organisation and Neat Freak that has to be Monica from Friends.  But before you mock her for what seems to be her insecurities or even Aspergers qualities ( I have a theory that Ross and Monica are actually Aspergers Siblings!) what we can take away from the over the top character  is the organis...

Doctors & Tackling The Awkward Chat

Image
Going to see the Doctor can be painfully awkward, especially if you don't know who you are going to be seen and treated by!  Talking about issues to do with your body to a unfamiliar person is enough for someone to just say under the covers and send another person (who you trust) to go and get you some over the counter medicine from the Chemist down the road along with a Barley Sugar Twist for being a good patient!  But sometimes you know you have to bite the bullet and just pick up that phone (yes our arch-nemesis!) and make a routine or emergency appointment!  Doctor's surgeries aren't the best place to be, they are full of gems and usually people coughing and spreading germs left and right. So before you even get in the room with your doctor you're already stressed to the max. I usually have a fail safe way of combatting that and it is in a earlier post, the link to is below:  The Doctors:   http://aspergersgirlguide.blogspot.co.uk/2013...

How to cope with and answering important Phone Calls.

Image
Answering a phone call or even making a simple one can make any confident Aspergers girl turn into an anxious wreck instantly! Knowing how to deal and cope with making or answering a important phone call is all about confidence and a little bit of research into who you're talking to as well as the actual purpose of the call.  Now this is not Wayward Pines... you don't always have to answer the phone when it rings, especially if it's an unknown number or a telemarketer trying to sell you something.  But differentiating between a cold caller and someone offering to give you an interview for a job you've just applied for can be tricky.  I am guilty of not picking up the phone if I don't know the area code of the number or if it is a '0845' or '0800' number.  Something inside me instantly tightens and I feel like I can't breath or speak, I begin to sweat and my heart rate begins to increase. I know it's anxiety and unfortunately ...
