⌗SurvivalGuides: Revenge of the Lockdown - How to keep a routine and Keep your Mind and Body Healthy

Image
We're going back into Lockdown, it can be a scary time trying to adjust to the new rule changes. We've had sudden routine changes following the Tiered system and now the resurgence of a Month Long Lockdown can be distressing and overwhelming.  Have no fear, I have put together some helpful and useful tips and tricks to get through the second Lockdown.  On the 31st October 2020, the Prime Minister made an announcement that the whole of the UK was going back into a month long lockdown from starting at 12.01am on Thursday 5th November (tomorrow) until the 2nd December 2020.  Wales have already been in a month long lockdown which is due to end on the 9th November 2020 (although it seems like this one has now been extended), Scotland and Northern Ireland have also set out plans respectively for their own Lockdown period.  How to Adapt your Routine and Keep yourself Healthy:  Try and Stick to your Normal Routine: Trying to keep to a routine when you are working or studying from hom

Mindfulness - How it can help you cope with the Daily Challenges you face and Transform your way of Thinking

Image
"I started  learning about Mindfulness from a place of fear, I didn't really understand what it meant for me in my life in the beginning but by the end of the course and putting it into my daily routine I instantly felt better." It is a way to cope with the uncertain times we are living in at the moment (2020 has actually been one of the craziest years ever) and also to learn to adapt and cope with changes without the negative emotions weighing you down, instead you learn to sit with them and then let them go!  We all struggle with the unknown, we are constantly either jumping into the future or  revisiting the past without really just focusing on what we can do in the present moment we're in.  We skip it as our minds are completely focused on the 'What If's' and worst case scenarios (catastrophizing) rather than how to just solve the problem as it stands at the moment or just being aware of what we are feeling now in the moment and allowing ourselves to

#TheQuittingDairies: Irrational Thought Processes , Allergic Reactions and A Packet of Cigs

I thought I was doing so well and then I crashed due to extreme stress so it was a case of mental health over no cigs and I chose the better of two evils!  That doesn't mean to say I've given up on quitting, it just means that I've gone to fast and I needed to rethink my options as I can't constantly meltdown all the time and flip out over little things due to the fact that i'm withdrawing.  I knew somewhere along the road my body would bite back and let me know how disgruntled it is and it has done it in the most spectacular fashion with big red swollen blisters that itch constantly and burn all the time and no period this month ( I'll go into further detail on that later).  So today I had to do something about it and I bought a packet of cigs, I know that this is a bad thing but I have to take a step back and feel better emotionally.  "I went cold turkey too fast and I've come to the stage where it's been more than a week of scream

#TheQuittingDairies: Tears, Mental Health Meltdowns and Cravings

We all have bad days but this week has been one where my emotions have taken control and I'm starting to wonder if I've made the right decision?  Doubting whether i've made the right choice is normal, I do on a daily basis but I've hit a patch of complete and utter meltdown mode and the cravings have returned to the point where I've considered buying a packet of cigarettes and smoke them all.  It started on Tuesday night, my anxiety hit the roof and I couldn't sleep, my mind was completely consumed with anxieties and that has continued for the rest of the week.  "I'm exhausted and emotionally gone through a process of complete and utter anger, depression and extreme anxiety." I just feel like I've lost complete control and although I usually can get through these rough patches and get back onto an even keel, over the last few days I've completely lost it. I've screamed, sobbed and nearly had a full on meltdown, becoming

#TheQuittingDairies: Stress, Neighbours from Hell and Handy Tips & Tricks

Image
This Weekend has been a challenge...  Stress and anxiety are the main enemies that I have had to face as well as dealing with the new neighbours from hell.  I've managed to be good, cutting to 2-3 cigs a day and using my trusty friend the inhalator and chewing gum to avoid cravings /replace a cigarette and have been still using the patches as well.  The problems started on Sunday, it was a Bank Holiday Weekend in the UK which means we don't have to go to work on Monday and plus it was extremely sunny and hot so sitting in the garden reading was perfect until the new neighbour decided he wanted to host what I can only describe to be a rave from 3pm to 2am in the morning!  Before you think I'm being a party pooper, it was a professional PA with Decks plus a microphone and baring in mind I have Sensory Processing Disorder*  and anxiety I was in that twilight zone between being able to cope or having a raging meltdown, and to deal with said emotions nicotin
